What we are thankful for!
We want to wish all our dance families a very Happy Thanksgiving!
We've been having our dancers write what they are thankful for on our Thankful Tree. Some amazing thoughts here from the kids
October Dancer of the Month
Lily recently turned 9 years old and has been dancing since she was 2-1/2. She is in her 4th year with MAMD. Lily has good focus in class and always gives her best effort. She has great attendance and is a joy to be around.
Lily is home schooled and she is in 3rd grade. She participates in piano, softball, choir, and has been in a number of plays.
At MAMD, Lily is taking Building Ballet, Jazz, and Tap with Ms. Abby. Jazz is her favorite dance class. Lily loves to read Harry Potter books and is currently in the process of writing the 9th Harry Potter book. Lily also teaches her siblings to dance at home in her dance school that she calls Tiger Lily Dance school.
September Dancer of the Month
Claire is in her 4th year of dancing and has been with MAMD the entire time! Claire has had good behavior in all of her classes. She listens and asks questions when trying something new. She comes to class ready to learn even when she is a younger student in a class.
This year Claire is in Kindergarten at Mulberry Elementary School. She participates in theatre, dance, and music outside of school.
At MAMD, Claire is taking Tumble Kids, Itty Bitty Hip Hop, Kidance Tap, Kidance Ballet, Beginning Jazz, Piano Lessons, Music Fun Time and Private Lessons for a Competition Solo. Her favorite class is tumbling. Claire’s favorite part about dance is that she can feel the music and make up her own moves and dances. She loves to make up her own dances and songs and make as many friends as she can.
Festival of Trees
These ladies have been working hard for their upcoming Festival of Trees performance! For some this will be their first time performing on a stage with an audience. I'm so excited for them! -Miss Kimi
This newsletter, we are featuring returning teacher, Miss Kimi. Miss Kimi has been dancing since she was 3-1/2 years old. She has trained with MAMD since Middle School. Miss Kimi is starting her 4th year as a teacher at MAMD this year.
Miss Kimi loves when she sees her students try something they never thought they could do. The determination and family support with our students help inspire her in different ways.
Outside of teaching dance, Miss Kimi is a full time nursing student while also working part time at a nursing home.
Her favorite thing about teaching is watching the excitement in a student when they learn something new that they have been working so hard on.
Please welcome Miss Kimi back this fall. We are happy to have kept her in our dance family! We are super excited to learn that Miss Kimi was nominated for best dance teacher for the Best of Muscatine!
Miss Kimi is an amazing asset to the MAMD team! We just ❤️️ her!
